MARCUS VON WACHTEL
Marcus von Wachtel has been in around the circus and the theatre since 1980. Born in London and raised in Jimena de la Frontera, he moved to Madrid, where he began a fascinating career that includes working at the Seville World's Fair,
He has founded a number of enterprises and has produced theatre and circus events, as well as taught at several institutions in the entertainment world. He has been director, producer, actor, mime and a long list of allied positions for French, Belgian, Japanese, American, Swedish and, of course, Spanish theatre, circus, television, cinema and live entertainment companies, often touring with them all over the world. He is a member of several official associations, including the European Federation of Circus Schools.
Von Wachtel's current company, CircoMad, came to be in Madrid and, through it, he has founded a circus school in Tarifa, Cádiz, and now, El Corral de la Paca. The latter is a complete renovation/restoration of a large house in the village transformed into a venue for a circus school, a theatre and concert facility and a tastefully pleasant place to be.
Marcus is a certified teacher of Movement and Interpretation applied to the circus, attained in 1979. He is also a Karate Black Belt in the Goyu Riu tradition, and is totally bilingual in English and Spanish, and has some French and Hungarian.
